Podgy Sabrina Parkins, from Hackney, had been classed as overweight since the age of five and continued to grow more every year.
The 21-year-old knew during secondary school that she was morbidly obese but it didn't concern her because that was how she had always lived her life.
In the first couple of years at university, her unhealthy lifestyle caused her to gain even more weight and she was not happy with the way she looked in photos taken after Christmas in 2013.
Doctors advised that the pain she was experiencing in her foot was due to her putting too much weight on it when she stood up.
With her unhealthy lifestyle affecting her happiness and mental state, Sabrina knew she had to do something.

At the start of January 2014, Sabrina weighed 23st.
Not only was her weight affecting her confidence but it was also having an impact on her studies.
Sabrina, who works part time at Waitrose, said: "My concentration at university was poor. I was always tired and felt sluggish."
She decided to make a change in January 2014 as a New Year’s resolution.
Speaking about her inspiration, she said: "Initially, my motivation was me imagining myself slim, confident and happy."
Inspired by TV programmes such as The US Biggest Loser, Sabrina saw the amazing results contestants were achieving and couldn’t wait to see her own transformation.

Sabrina began by weighing herself.
She was shocked to see that she was almost five stone heavier than the last time she remembered getting on a scale.
This was the motivation she needed to start her weight loss journey.
Sabrina started exercising regularly and watching what she ate.
Seeing some initial results spurred her on and she decided to join PureGym in June 2014.
At the end of June, Sabrina weighed herself again and was thrilled to see that she had lost five stone since January 2014.
She added: "One thing I loved about PureGym is how helpful and friendly the trainers were.
"In the majority of classes I attend the trainers have really pushed me to keep going."
Encouraged by the results she was seeing, Sabrina took part in the ‘PureLoser’ weight loss course in September 2014, representing her branch and went on to win.
From there, Sabrina never looked back and having dropped 22 inches off her waistline, she has now lost 10st since January 2014.
She trains six times a week, working out with personal trainer Ben Corlett at her local London Holloway branch.
Before her impressive weight loss, on an average day Sabrina would tuck into Nutella on toast or bacon sandwiches for breakfast, gorge on ready meals, sausages or burgers with chips for lunch and chow down on fried chicken, Chinese takeaways or pizzas for dinner.
Nowadays, the slim student will opt for scrambled egg and avocado for breakfast, chicken and steamed vegetables for lunch and homemade soup or chicken salad for dinner.
Sabrina is also keen to take her fitness to the next level and said: "It wasn’t just about improving my appearance, it was also about becoming fit."
Having instigated a complete overhaul of her diet, Sabrina now lives a much healthier lifestyle and is delighted with her transformation.
She added: "Hard work really does pay off. I knew I had to fight, I did and I’m still going.
"I am almost at my goal weight and couldn’t be happier."
