FIFA regional technical official is scheduled to arrive here today to
inspect the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Academy in Sylhet which
is being run by the FIFA fund.
The BFF Academy got underway last
November partly with some 40 budding booters, as FIFA granted ‘Goal
project-3’, with funds of US$ 500000, from which the world's game
governing body has already released US$ 300000.
“FIFA official
Vincent Subramaniam is coming to see the latest position of the academy
in Sylhet and prepare a guideline on how to run the academy in full
swing and strengthen its activities. He will also make plans for further
help from the FIFA during his five-day visit,” said BFF general
secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag yesterday.
During the symbolic
inauguration from Dhaka in 2012, FIFA president Joseph Sleep Blatter
promised to extend FIFA’s help beyond the current project.
