Shaan’s father, late Manas Mukherjee, was a composer and hence he grew up with an ear for music. He began by singing jingles and graduated to cutting his own pop albums. His film career started with the romance Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, where his songs, Woh pehli baar and more importantly, Musu musu haasi, became a huge rage. The singer segued into acting with films like Daman and Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya.
