National news - Thursday’s SSC exams now on March 7


The education ministry yesterday shifted the Thursday’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations to March 7 due to hartal, enforced by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan made the announcement at a press briefing at the secretariat in the city. “The exams have been rescheduled considering the security of the examinees during hartal,” he said. He further said the rescheduled exams on March 7 would begin at 10am.
The ‘science/general science and higher mathematics (theory)’ exams were schedule for the SSC and ‘Bangla second paper’ for Madrasa education board on Thursday. 
Besides, there were scheduled examinations of SSC vocational under technical education board on 62 subjects and Dakhil vocational on 62 subjects. This is for the 10 days the exams were rescheduled due to hartal.
Meanwhile, the repeated rescheduling of exams has frustrated the examinees and their guardian as such political programmes are badly affecting their preparations and they are failing to concentrate to their studies properly.
While, guardians expressed their deep concern for the repeated hartals which are hampering the studies of their children and they don’t know when the exams would be completed as their kids are feeling strained pressure on their minds for a prolonged exams.
Fatima, an examinee said, “Such rescheduling of exams is hampering my concentration. I am failing to answer properly.”
“I am tired of such hamper of exams due to hartal. When I study one subject, it is shifted to another date,” Shahana, another examinee, said. “If exams are held for a long time, the students lose their interest to studies as it put much pressure on the body and mind together,” Jalal Ahmed, a guardian said.
